Zach Evans had given the Robins a 40th minute lead from the penalty spot but a sweet volley from Mike Pearson had the visitors level just two minutes later.

The Robins failed to capitalise on their chances, but the manner of the display will put them in good heart ahead of the end of season play-offs that will determine who will represent the division in next season's Europa League.

Newtown carried the greater threat early on, with a Shane Sutton effort denied on the line and Kieran Mills-Evans heading the loose ball against the bar.

And they got their just reward five minutes before the break as Airbus skipper Ian Kearney pushed Mills-Evans to the floor at a set-piece and Zach Evans stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.

However, the lead was short lived as the visitors countered immediately with Pearson crashing home a well-struck volley.

Both sides had their chances in the second half, but neither could find the finishing touch as the last league action at Latham Park ended all square.

The New Saints' weather jinx at Carmarthen struck again when their clash at Richmond Park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch just 45 minutes before kick-off.

The Oswestry-based champions have suffered at the hands of the weather in their trips to West Wales in recent times.

And they were again left kicking their heels as heavy rain before the game made the surface unplayable. The game will now be played tomorrow.

The postponement means a delay in formulating the fixture line-up for the Europa League play-offs.
