New format for Shropshire's top-flight
Top-flight clubs in the Shropshire Cricket League will play under a new format from next season.
Half the matches will be played as per the current rules, where a winning or losing draw is possible.
The remaining 50 per cent will be straight win-lose games, in which the winners receive 20 points and the losers bonus points only.
The win-loss formats are played over 50 overs apiece with a maximum of 10 overs per bowler.
The new arrangements mean that the Premier Division will mirror the playing system of the Birmingham League, into which the SCCL champions are promoted annually.
The League Management Committee voted through this change after a recent meeting of clubs from the Premier Division, Division One and Reserve Division One to discuss plans for next season.
Clubs were asked to vote on a number of options and no clear consensus was reached. After further discussion, the league decided on change only the top division.
Division One and Reserve One will continue to play to the old rules.
