The Premier Division outfit held their nerve to successfully defend a total of 152-7 against their Division Two hosts last night

Will Parton and Ed Foster shared a 107-run stand in 12 overs. Parton struck a fine 72 from 41 balls with nine fours and three sixes, while Foster made 44.

But after Parton and Foster departed in quick succession, both to Tom Weaver, Shrewsbury were pegged back in the closing overs.

Sam Whitney bagged 2-19 from his four overs while Weaver picked up 2-19 from three.

Dave Exall then led Bridgnorth's reply, after Steve Barnard had dismissed opener Karl Quiney and skipper James Ralph with 27 on the board.

Exall, who skippered Herefordshire against Shropshire in the Minor Counties clash earlier this week, made 56 but his efforts proved in vain as Bridgnorth were restricted to 135-7.

Ed Foster, Barnard and Charlie Morris all picked up two wickets. Shrewsbury will go to Worfield, who were four-wicket winners over Penkridge, in the next round.
