Gloves are off for T20 finals day
St Goerges captain Ben Bryam admits his team will have to produce some of their best cricket of the season if they are to carry off the Shropshire County League T20 crown tomorrow.
The Telford-based side, who are one of four sides involved in finals day, will have to overcome the holders Reman Services in the second semi-final (1.30pm) if they are to make the final later that day (4.30pm).
Bomere Heath and Worfield, who are hosting the event, meet in the first semi-final at 10.30am.
And Byram said: "We know Reman are a very good side. We played them in the semi-finals two years ago and they were too strong for us.
"We are going to have to play some of our best cricket of the season to progress to the final.
"But we are capable of doing it if our key players step up to the plate. We will be looking for some big performances tomorrow."
Bomere Heath skipper Chris Edenborough has been delighted with his team's recent form, which has seen them win their last six completed matches in league and cup prior to this afternoon''s home clash with Ludlow.
And he said: "Worfield will be favourites but we will go there with no worries. Our league form has been really good and it is just whether we can take that to a different format."
Worfield, who are currently top of the Premier Division, are also eyeing the prize. But skipper Nick Hudson is taking nothing for granted against Bomere.
He said: "They are flying at the moment so we will have to be at our best and on our game. But anything can happen in T20 cricket."
