Students all set to quiz cricket great Sir Garfield Sobers
Cricket great Sir Garfield Sobers will put himself in the firing line in Shropshire tomorrow.
The West Indies legend, who is regarded by many as the greatest all-rounder ever, is conducting a question and answer session during An Audience with Sir Garfield Sobers at Wrekin College from 12.30pm.
Sobers, who played for his country between 1954 and 1974, scored more than 8,000 Test runs at an average of 57.78. He also took 235 wickets.
Dr Haydn Griffiths, headmaster of Wrekin College, said there was a growing sense of excitement as the school prepare to welcome Sobers.
"We are very much looking forward to welcoming Sir Garfield to Wrekin College and listening to the wealth of stories he has," he said. "There are also a limited number of tickets available free of charge for members of the public who would like to come along."
