Shropshire on alert for a tough test

Shropshire captain Richard Oliver believes the three-day Minor Counties Championship battle with Oxfordshire will present his team with their toughest test.

The Cat will open play tomorrow fourth in the Western Division having started the campaign with a sparkling record of two wins from two games – and seven from seven in all competitions.

"I think it will be our biggest test so far in the three-dayers," said Oliver. "Oxford have got a couple of spinners who have taken a few wickets and they finished second last season while we finished fourth, so it will be tough.

"Cornwall won the competition last year and they have struggled so far, so you can't read much into past results.

"We will probably have to be somewhere near our best to keep up the run but we are not looking too far ahead.

"If you look at the fixtures and the way games have gone so far this season, it is not going to get any easier.

"But we have still got everything to play for, we go out to win every game and hopefully by Tuesday we will be eight from eight."
