The county senior team star is the new North Shropshire Parks Senior Merit champion after beating Dale Booth 21-17 in the final at Whixall.

And that means electrician Lloyd – winner of the Premier Merit in 2004 and County Merit in 2010 – has booked a place in the British Parks Senior Merit final on August 13 at Wem BC.

Jock Timlett, of North Shropshire Merit sponsors The Driveway Doctor, said: “Well played Martin. I thought Dale was going to catch you up at one point – and fair credit to him for making a game of it – but some cracking firing and good turnovers put paid to that.”

Lloyd’s reaction to his messages of congratulations was: “I played OK on a green that you’re never confident of nailing every end.”

The District club bowler will be joined at Wem BC in the

British finals by Booth (Woore) and Saturday’s beaten semi-finalists Greg Fordham (Bridgewater) and Jack Hewitt (Malpas Sports).
