Comeback kings Dawley end Nations’ perfect start in thriller
Dawley Town hit the comeback trail to end FC Nations' perfect start to the Salop Leisure League season.
The Premier Division' match of the day saw Town overcome a 2-0 half-time deficit to triumph 3-2.
Najmudeen Issah and Kyle Cassell had seemingly put Nations on the way to an eighth straight win with two goals inside the opening 30 minutes.
But Dawley roared back in stunning fashion after the break as strikes from Liam Trewartha, Ross Jones and substitute Callum Russell completed a dramatic turnaround.
Despite the defeat, Nations stay top of the standings, two points clear of Church Stretton Town, Dawley and Wrockwardine Wood, who are locked together on 19 points.
Second-placed Church Stretton eased to a 4-1 victory away to Shifnal Town 1964.
Fourth-placed Wrockwardine also tasted success on the road, winning 4-0 at Telford Town Reserves.
Two early goals from Cian Fenlon set Wood on their way before two late goals from substitute Liam Josephs sealed the deal.
Ellesmere Rangers came from 2-0 down at home to Gobowen Celtic to draw 2-2.
Louis Prichard and Ed Rogers put Celtic in charge going into half-time, but Tom Shakeshaft and Harvey Greig replied after the break for the hosts.
Wem Town picked up their first three points of the season after claiming victory in their basement battle at Llanymynech.
Jack Parry, Macauley Pugh and Jason Owusu were on target for Town, who climbed out of the relegation zone.
Shrewsbury Juniors and Bridgnorth Spartans battled out a 2-2 draw. Nathan Muller and William Jervis scored for Juniors with Will Reid and Lawrence Wood netting for the visiting Spartans.
Brown Clee have climbed to the top of the Division One standings following a 6-2 win at home to Shawbury United Development.
They lead Ercall Rangers, who saw their clash at AFC Weston Rhyn postponed, by a point, but have played two games more.
Emmanuel Osei and Jay Barnett proved too hot to handle as Allscott Heath Reserves ran out emphatic 11-2 winners at Ercall Colts.
Osei netted four times while Barnett bagged a hat-trick.Gary Armstrong, Jack Davies, Gideon Frimpong and Benjamin Horne added Allscott's other goals. Harry Nesbitt replied with a brace.
Ercall 1975 and St Martins drew 3-3, Owen Rigby (two) and Adam Mellor struck for Ercall, while SAHA and Wrockwardine Wood Development drew 0-0.
The all Ercall battle saw the Aces get the better of Evolution by four goals to one.
Brogan Hughes (two), Lucas Rudd and Brooklyn Yorke netted for the Aces. Mark Marfo grabbed what proved to be a consolation for Evolution.
Goals from Cosmin Ghita and Dominic Leason earned FC Nations Development a 2-1 win over Mereside Rangers.
Turell Clayton, Corey Lindsay and Rihan Umar found the net to secure Telford Town Development a 3-2 win at Wem Town Colts.
Shrewsbury Up & Comers Development won by the same score at home to Haughmond Development.
In the Saturday Challenge Cup, William Rogers and Harry Morris scored the goals that secured a 2-0 win for Shrewsbury Up & Comers at NC United.
