Gareth Ainsworth the head coach of Shrewsbury Town

Following wins against Mansfield and Rotherham - and a point against Reading that could have been three - it was always going to be tough against Bolton.

Saying that, they wouldn't have been looking forward to coming to the Croud Meadow with Town's form - and we made it really difficult for them from the start.

Bolton, with their resources and the size of the club, should be leagues ahead of Shrewsbury but for the opening 30 minutes Town were fantastic.

A change in formation - maybe forced with the absence of Aaron Pierre - gave a chance to Vadaine Oliver to play with John Marquis up front.

Changing to a back four made Shrewsbury look a lot more creative going forward. They kept the ball a lot better and didn't let Bolton get into any sort of rhythm at all.

The formation was really working, but when you move away from a back five, you are going to give away a little bit of space in some areas and maybe that's what played into the Bolton goals.

But Gareth Ainsworth will be delighted with the first half. The goal was excellent. Alex Gilliead with some really strong running, it was a good effort from Marquis and it fortuitously fell to Oliver from a yard out.
