Home help is the aim for Oswestry

Skipper Jonathan Miles hopes Oswestry's fine form on the road can prove a catalyst for long overdue success on home soil when his side entertain Halesowen tomorrow.

The Morda Road men produced an impressive all-round display last weekend to secure an 81-run victory away to Stratford-upon-Avon and climb up to sixth in the Birmingham Cricket League Division Two table.

That was their second consecutive victory on their travels this term, which atoned in part for their disappointments on home surrounds. They have suffered three straight defeats.

In fact, Oswestry have struggled to deliver positive results at their picturesque Morda Road ground where they have not tasted victory in the league for more than two years.

So all-rounder Miles will he hoping that last Saturday's terrific performance can prove to be the springboard to launch a successful push towards the top of the divisional table.

"That makes it two wins out of two away from home," said Miles. "Now it's time to see if we start picking up some victories at Morda Road.

"We enjoy playing at home. There's no reason why we shouldn't do well.

"If we can perform like we did last week, then we can soon get the monkey off our back."

Oswestry will be without former skipper Mark Robinson for the clash with Halesowen.

But they have a ready replacement to hand in Shropshire all-rounder Robbie Clarke, who is available for the first time at the end of his first year at university in Swansea.

However, Oswestry will be vary as they take on the visitors. Halesowen arrive in good form with last weekend's three-wicket win at Penkridge lifting them up to third place.

Also in Division Two Shifnal, having missed out by two wickets against leaders Tamworth, look to bounce back when they make the journey to winless Coventry & North Western.

Up in Division One Wellington, fresh from victory over Old Hill, play host to Attock.

Bridgnorth, who missed out by just one wicket in a thriller against Sutton Coldfield, face a potentially tricky trip to second-placed Dorridge.
