Hat-trick hero Jones shines for Shropshire
A hat-trick by bowler Aster Jones helped Shropshire's Under-17s girls finish off their season in style by defeating national champions Lancashire at Longton.
The team recorded arguably their best ever result by claiming a 14 run victory over the Under-17s ECB National Champions in the third round of the ECB T20.
Shropshire made a great start to the game, making 152-5 with Lara Jones' knock of 39 leading the way.
Milly Home chipped in with 27 and Courtney Cooper made an explosive 28 from 18 balls to help set their formidable opponents a challenging total.
But the real magic came when Shropshire had the ball in hand, as they bowled out Lancashire for 138. Aster Jones stole the headlines with a superb haul of 5-27 which included a hat-trick to finish off the game.
But Lara Jones also enjoyed a great showing, taking 4-23, while wicket Keeper Meg Felstead claimed five dismissals including three stumpings and two catches. They followed that up by defeating Staffordshire by 86 runs.
Home struck a fine 62 and Cooper 27 while Emma Hudson made 23 from 11 balls to move Shropshire to 154-5.
Staffordshire were then all out for just 68 with Zoe Griffiths claiming a superb 3-5 and Courtney Cooper an equally impressive 3-6.
Shropshire's Under 13s girls have also impressed at the Malvern Festival, going unbeaten.
Day One saw them defeat Norfolk by 49 runs, with Harriett Rollason the star.
She made 46 not out as Shropshire notched 106-6 before claiming 4-0 as Norfolk were dismissed for 57.
They followed that up by beating Nottinghamshire by nine wickets and then defeated Herefordshire by 73 runs on day two.
Ellie Micklewright made 50 and Nyah Edwards 41 as Shropshire scored 143-4 before Herefordshire were out for 70.
They then beat Norfolk by 35 runs before day three saw their final match rained off.
