Aviva Premiership side Worcester Warriors held a community summer camp at the All Blacks' Edgar Davies Ground home.

The three-day course attracted 47 youngsters aged between six and16, who were put through their paces by members of Warriors' community rugby coaching team.

Bridgnorth chairman Peter Parkes was delighted with how the event went and he said it was hoped that further sessions would take place on the back of its success.

He said: "It is the first children's academy that has been done with Worcester Warriors and with the success we have had we have got to think it is an event we will be repeating.

"Worcester put on some excellent core skills activities for the players and they all took some great knowledge from the coaching that they received.

"A lot of the players who took part were from Bridgnorth but they also came from further away including Telford and Stourbridge.

"It was an event for the wider rugby community."

Bridgnorth are a partnership club with Worcester Warriors, who were promoted back to the country's top flight in the spring after a thrilling showdown with rivals Bristol.

Members of Bridgnorth's first team and a number of supporters travelled to Doncaster to watch Worcester play in the B&I Cup Final on their way up to Scarborough in April for an RFU Intermediate Cup semi final.

And club director of rugby Dale Smallman said that the partnership is likely to grow stronger in the future.

He said: "The two clubs are keen to support each other with this grassroots community rugby.

"There is also a strong history between us – a number of players now at Worcester started off at Bridgnorth and this is a great way for youngsters in Bridgnorth and the surrounding area to experience coaching from one of the top clubs in the country."
