The team was today due to play its ninth and final pre-season friendly at home to Evo-Stik Premier League outfit FC United of Manchester (3pm).

Their next match will be their season opener against Welling next Saturday. And Hedge, one of several summer signings made by manager Liam Watson following the Bucks' promotion from the Conference North, said: "I think the lads are ready to go now.

"There's only so many friendlies you can play, then you just want to get straight into the thick of the action and we are champing at the bit now."

Hedge, who will replace Telford legend Ryan Young between the sticks this season, has been pleased with his own form in pre-season.

He said: "I am getting sharp. My fitness is getting there. There's a few little aspects of my game that I could improve still but that will come.

"But overall I have been happy with the way I have slotted in.

"I thought I did all right in some and could have done better in others.

"I like to analyse and be critical of myself because that is how you learn."

After the trip to Welling, Hedge is also relishing his home debut at the New Bucks Head.

Telford will welcome Macclesfield on August 12 (7.45pm) and Hedge said: "The New Bucks Head is a great stadium to play at. I have always enjoyed playing there in the past.

"I know that we have got a passionate set of fans that get behind the team so I can't wait to put on a show for them."
