Paul Thomason in at Telford Tigers
Paul Thomason has been appointed general manager of Telford Tigers Ice Hockey Club.
Thomason has been a virtual ever-present in Telford since starting the first club's first-ever season in 1985, going on to score 112 points in 169 games, over nine years.
The 49-year-old will take an oversight of both the Tigers and the Tigers Junior Academy, working closely with the management of Red Hockey Ltd, following their takeover in September.
He said: "Having been here since 1985, this is a dream job for me. I've played for the club, coached it and managed it, so this is a natural progression.
"It is a step up to make sure that everything is in place across the company, and not just the team. I am relishing the opportunity and proud to be here."
Wayne Scholes, CEO of Red Hockey Ltd, said: "Having Paul on board made perfect sense, his dedication to the Tigers is obvious and his energy is seemingly never-ending! He is hardworking and loyal, he sets the right example to the team and the fans."
Meanwhile, Tigers enjoyed back-to-back wins over the Sheffield Steeldogs at the weekend triumphing 5-4 at home on Saturday and 5-1 away yesterday.
As we grow the club and structure of the organisation to encompass the academy and year round activities it was important to us to appoint the right person to put everything in place. Paul is that person and we are very pleased to have him join the team formally."
