Hanmer overcome Hanwood in the play offs
Hanmer are one match away from the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowls League after a dramatic fightback in the first play-off game against Hanwood.
With both sides desperate to make the final promotion-relegation play-off after near misses, it was Hanmer who prevailed with a 7-5 victory at Bowring.
Last night's match was a keenly contested affair, going back and forth with Hanwood leading by 12 going into the back four, only to suffer a spectacular late collapse and defeat.
Hanmer took the match by four chalks and a close-run aggregate of 219-215 against a shell-shocked Hanwood, who were beaten in five of their last six matches.
Mark Parsons was the biggest winner, for Hanwood on fifth against Graham Faulkner, while Hanmer's Mel Jenkins later recorded a 21-13 success over Dave Payne.
Hanmer now face the Premier League's bottom club, Archibald Worthington, on Friday night with a venue to be chosen tonight, either Meole Brace or Chester Road.
It's now four years straight of disappointment for Hanwood, who have beaten in the play-offs four times in a row.
They will stay in the Tanners Claret Shropshire League Division One and Wem League next season.
