Shropshire's Colin Beaman makes bowling history

Shropshire bowler Colin Beaman has created history - by becoming the first Shropshire player to win the prestigious Spring Waterloo.

Meole Brace's Beaman produced a brilliant display to land the top prize of £800 in Blackpool on a memorable day yesterday.

Beaman defeated Welsh No 1 John Bailey 21-8 in the final, sealing an invite to the Oceanico Masters in Portugal and a place in the Champion of Champions.
