Fed-up boss Mick McCarthy today gagged Karl Henry from talking about Wolves' 'bad-boy' reputation.

Henry's sending off for his reckless tackle on Jordi Gomez at Wigan has prompted widespread criticism of the Wolves skipper.

McCarthy sat down with Henry on Monday afternoon to outline the skipper's future conduct.

He is anxious to draw a line under what he feels has been an unfair and inaccurate portrayal by the national media.

McCarthy's latest frustration has been fuelled by an interview Henry did for the Sky cameras at the club's golf day in the build-up to the televised game at Wigan in which Henry dismissed talk of Wolves as a 'dirty' side.

"Although it won't help us, it might do him some good to have three games off actually," said McCarthy.

"I've been annoyed by how the media have kept the hype going.

"I was really annoyed by the interview on our golf day, because it brought it to the top of the agenda again in the days leading up to a televised game.

"Karl, in his wisdom, tried to help them by giving them quotes to quench the thirst of the media, but it didn't.

"I find the best thing to do is to keep quiet because they'll find something or someone else to crack on with. The more you try to diffuse it by what you say, it doesn't work I know."
