Bucks boss Sinton gives trialists another chance to impress

Boss Andy Sinton is set to give his latest trio of trialists a second chance to prove they are worth a deal at AFC Telford United.

The Bucks chief cast an eye over experienced former Hereford defender Karl Broadhurst and ex-Kidderminster midfielder Dean Bennett during Saturday's 2-0 victory over FC United of Manchester United in the Supporters Direct Cup.

There was also a run-out for Dominic Merella, a former Blackpool winger-cum-striker who has also been at the Glenn Hoddle Academy and last season had a spell with Stafford Rangers.

All three did their chances no harm, but Sinton insists he will look to field them again in tomorrow's friendly at Shifnal Town before he makes any decisions.

"Dominic's a good prospect and we'll have another look at him," said Sinton. "Whether he's ready yet I'm not quite sure.

"Karl comes with a wealth of experience but I won't sign anyone until I've seen them play. Dean Bennett comes with a good pedigree — but I need to make sure that anyone we sign is better than we have already got."

Sinton is close to reaching an agreement with most of the players already offered deals — with four of them ready to sign.

"We're close to getting the two young midfielders Will Richards and Richard Davies done," he confirmed.

"Martyn Naylor (full-back) has agreed and we just need to get the paperwork done. Sean Evans (left winger) has agreed on a non-contract basis."

Meanwhile, two Telford players are moving on to pastures new.

Winger Danny Edwards has rejected terms offered and looks set to join Zamaretto League side Leamington while centre-back Adam Dugdale has signed a six-month contract with League Two Crewe.
