Michael Dulson will make his Shropshire bowls debut in their Endsleigh British county championship semi-final clash with North Midlands next month.
The policeman who plays for Wem USC has been called in for the home leg at Old Shrewsbury No 1 on Sunday, August 2, having been on reserve for a couple of years.
"He has an excellent record in the Premier League and is near the top of the averages again this season," explained selector Dennis Lewis.
"It's a reward for patience too as he has turned up for all the games and he warrants his place in the team."
Dulson effectively takes the place of Shropshire Merit winner Alan Davidson of Newport, who is unavailable for what could be a tricky away leg at Dunlop No 2 in Coventry.
So Spencer Clarke (SJ Bayley) and Adie Rowe (Meole Brace) switch to the away 12 with Chester Road's Andy Duckett moving the opposite way.
That's because Duckett and six others in the starting 12 at Old Shrewsbury played there as recently as last season in the Wem League.
But Keith Wall of Castlefields, who stepped down from the win over Derbyshire for personal reasons, is left on reserve due to a holiday.
