Kuldeep Diwan is establishing himself as one of the stars of the Marston's Shropshire Premier League after inspiring Much Wenlock to their second win of the campaign.

The left-arm Indian spinner ended with astonishing figures of 6-8 from seven overs as Bomere Heath were dismissed for 65.

And the performance was all the more impressive as Wenlock only had a meagre total defend having themselves been dismissed for 141.

"I felt we were 50 short at tea," admitted Wenlock captain Chris Lewis, who himself claimed three wickets.

"But we deserved the result for the way the lads bowled and fielded.

"Kuldeep missed the first two games but has been fantastic since he arrived and I think he has got 19 wickets now.

"He is excellent around the club and with his coaching.

"I've played with some good professionals in the Birmingham League and I know there has been some good ones at this level.

"But he's up there with the best of them."

Newtown looked well placed for their first victory of the season after dismissing their visitors Albrighton for just 96. Off spinner Joe Davies snapping up 4-5 off just 3.1 overs while Dave Anthony also picked up three wickets in 16 overs.

However, those hopes soon evaporated as a couple of early wickets fell before Newtown were skittled for 77 in reply.

Experienced campaigner Brian Jones providing the only real resistance with 20 while Dave Woollatt took six wickets.

Home skipper Steve Davies was shocked by the manner of defeat, insisting: "It was not a 20 for 160 wicket.

"After bowling them out for 96, to lose the way we did was very disappointing. Any win would have been good, sometimes you have to win ugly, but we were all guilty of giving our wickets away."

Ben Chambers and Jim Cadwallader were the Shelton heroes as they defeated Broseley by 49 runs.

Chambers top scored for the Shrewsbury club with 59 as they were bowled out for 190, before Cadwallader got to work with his medium pacers taking 5-26 as Broseley were dismissed for 141.
