Whitchurch team withdraws

Newport have been handed a bye to the final of rugby's Shropshire Cup – after semi-final opponents Whitchurch pulled out.

The two were due to meet at Forton Road tomorrow evening, but the Reds have withdrawn because they were not able to raise a meaningful side.

Newport will discover their opponents after the semi-final between Bridgnorth and Ludlow, also at Forton Road, on Thursday (6.30pm).

In the shropshire Shield, Telford Hornets have also gained a bye to the final following Highley's withdrawal.

No date has yet been confirmed for the other semi-final between Oswestry and Shrewsbury.
