Australian club Perth Glory were today claiming a coup in arranging a pre-season friendly with Wolves down under in July.
But Molineux officials cautioned Wolves fans against re-arranging summer plans as the two clubs have yet to conclude negotiations for the game scheduled to be played at Perth's Members Equity Stadium.
Talks are at an advanced stage, however, and clearly indicate Wolves planning a pre-season tour to the A League circuit in what supporters will hope will be part of the preparations for Premier League campaign.
"We are in talks about a possible trip to Perth in July but nothing is signed and sealed at the moment," said Wolves club secretary Richard Skirrow.
"We would ask fans to await further news which will be revealed as soon as any arrangements are confirmed."
But Glory coach Dave Mitchell, an old friend of Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, is clearly confident the deal is as good as sealed and is already talking up what they believe will be a significant fixture for the Perth club.
"I have no doubt that it will be a hard fought game but played in the right spirit," Mitchell said.
"They're well managed by Mick McCarthy who is a no nonsense bloke. I know him well and we've kept in touch so it'll be great to come up against him.
"I've told Mick about Perth, what a great place it is and the strength of support for football in this town.
"There will be plenty of opportunities for local football supporters to take part in activities throughout the week."
