Boss Mick McCarthy admitted his hopes of extending Mancienne's stay beyond January rest with Chelsea manager Luiz Filipe Scolari.

"We're extending it for another month," said McCarthy today. "Michael has done very well and done everything I expected him to.

"He has been a good player and I am delighted to have him.

"We can take him for a total of 93 days for now and we will see what Chelsea do in the window.

ÊMancienne has recovered from the migraine that kept him sidelined at Doncaster and is available for the Boxing Day clash with Sheffield United at Molineux.

Meanwhil striker Chris Iwelumo has cranked up the stakes ahead of the sell-out clash with the Blades by claiming their sniping is "all talk".

Wolves players haven't forgotten the uncomplimentary comments from Blades defender Matthew Kilgallon after their won 3-1 at Bramall Lane last month.

Kilgallon said he didn't care if Wolves were 10 points clear because he thought the Blades had had much the better of the game and he had "no fear" of them.

Yet Mick McCarthy's side go into the Molineux clash 20 points clear of the seventh-placed Blades and seven points clear at the top of the Championship.

Iwelumo said: "We beat them 3-1 so we're looking forward to it. If they don't appreciate us, we'll see what their thoughts are after the game on Boxing Day.

"They had a lot of the ball and a lot of setpieces - the throw-ins were coming in - but we got the result.

"It's all talk - we're not too bothered about that.

"We're not getting carried away - we're taking it one game at a time, our feet are firmly on the ground and we have a lot of football ahead.

"We're in a happy place at the minute."
