Ladies stroll to semi spot

Shropshire Ladies stormed into the semi-finals of their bowls county championship in superb style.

They beat Wales, the 2006 national champions, home and away yesterday by 157 chalks overall to finish top of their qualifying group.

Their semi-final opponents on August 17 will be Coventry, who beat North Shropshire home and away yesterday.

* Spencer Clarke was the only one of Shropshire's five qualifiers at the All England to clear the first round hurdle, the Bayley star eventually losing in the last 16.
