Bouncing back with away win

Sir John Bayley bounced back from their shock County Cup exit at the hands of Bowring to record an away win at Donnington Wood in Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League.

Steve Broome took the coppers for the Bayley boys with a 21-6 card as they won 8-6 against the strugglers from Donnington.

There was another close game at Wrockwardine Wood were visitors Meole Brace had five winners and took the aggregate by two chalks thanks to Wayne Phillips' 21-6 card.

Wem stay top thanks to their 10-4 home win over Ford with Castlefields in second thanks to their 21-4 victory at Childs Ercall led by Michael's Beer's 21-4 win.

Chester Road also won on the road at Archibald Worthington - 11-3 - while St Georges beat Newport by the same score despite the efforts of former Dragon Chris Grocott who won 21-12 on his former home patch.

Ifton remain in touch at the top after their 12-2 home win over Bylet.
