StarSport's James Garrison hands the knockout trophy to Matt DaviesShifnal's Matt Davies has retained his Shropshire Star Individual Snooker knockout crown.

Davies had little trouble defending his title as he defeated Mike Dubicki, of the Raven Hotel near Whitchurch, 5-0 in last night's final.

Dubicki had his chances in two of the first three frames, but Davies was in outstanding form and breaks of 64 and 68 helped him to a resounding triumph at the Reman Services Club in Shrewsbury.

"To win it two years on the trot is fantastic," said Davies, who plays out of Shifnal's War Memorial Club.

"It's a great competition because you are playing people from all round the county and there is a good rivalry.

"I knew I had to play well to beat Mike because he's a quality player, but I thought it would be a bit closer."
