The nippy forward will link up with the African side for the match at Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road ground on Tuesday November 14.

He joins a Ghana squad which includes Chelsea's Michael Essien as well as West Ham's John Pantsil and PSV Eindhoven's Eric Addo.

But he will not miss any Shrewsbury games as he will travel to London to join his team-mates on Sunday November 12, the day after Shrewsbury's FA Cup first round tie with Hereford United.

The 25-year-old made his debut away in South Korea last month and Town boss Gary Peters is at least happy that this latest call-up is a little closer to home.

"It's pleasing for him and it's nice to have an international in your team but it's not nice when they get taken away from us," he said.

"At least this time it's in London and not in Japan and South Korea like last time.

"It's taken us two or three weeks since he came back from that to get him going again.

"It's something we don't deal with well at this level of football - in the Premiership they arrange the fixtures around the international calendar but we don't get that benefit.

"It's been a bit of a shock because we didn't know he was going to be an international player on a regular basis when we signed him and Ghana are a top team.

"You don't expect a second division player to be called up for that sort of thing."

Meanwhile, Peters insists he welcomes his selection headache for the visit of Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

A much-changed team - missing the likes of Scott Shearer, Kelvin Langmead and Stewart Drummond - impressed in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Yeovil in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

But Peters insists those players were rested rather than dropped and are very much in the frame for the return to League Two action.

"Those who came in did well and it puts pressure on me to pick a team," he added.

"Whoever I do pick to play will have pressure on them from the people who played before and that's a good situation to be in," he added.
