What's it like? "Coleham is a lovely part of Shrewsbury, one of the oldest parts of the town with Saxon origin. There's a great mix of old, restored buildings and new houses.
The area has a really friendly village vibe and property here is quite highly sought-after because of its close proximity to the town centre, just over Greyfriars Bridge."
What's good about it? "Really convenient. As well as the main mod-con stores there are lots of interesting little shops, like a spiritual healing centre, a beauticians, flower shop, butchers and a fantastic deli.
"From most parts of Longden Coleham, there are fantastic views over the River Severn and a lot of the properties (including mine) are perched right on the riverbank."
Any downsides? "There's a flood risk. In the few years I've lived there, only the top of Coleham Head seems to flood, but that can cause a transport headache for residents. The houses on the riverbank tend not to as they're so high up.
"Quite a few annoying teenagers use Coleham as a short cut into town from the Longden Road and there is the occasional fight."
Where's good for going out? "There are lots of lovely pubs to chose from but the Crown in Coleham is a perfect riverside spot – inexpensive, great for meeting up with friends and there are some very entertaining local characters! Head into the nearby area of Belle Vue for arty, bohemian hangouts."
Little known facts: History was made at Coleham Pumping Station Museum in 2004 when a 100 year old beam engine was successfully steamed after restoration.
Average house price: £191,600 (figure taken from mouseprice.com)
Schools: Coleham Primary School.
