More than 10,000 people flocked to one of Shropshire's biggest bonfire and fireworks spectaculars.
More than 10,000 people flocked to one of Shropshire's biggest bonfire and fireworks spectaculars.
The annual Donnington Bonfire in Telford proved an explosive success with thousands from across the county turning out to celebrate its 29th year.
The flaming feast of fun took place on Broad Oaks playing fields on Saturday night. Organisers Alf and Jennifer Mitchell said they were ecstatic at its success.
Mrs Mitchell said: "There was a brilliant atmosphere the whole night, I think it was the best fireworks we have ever seen.
"A lot of people were at the funfair and had a very nice time with the rides, it makes it a bit different having them there.
"We have been doing the fire for nearly 30 years now and we're really happy with how it all went. The main thing is that people enjoy themselves and they certainly did this year. It's the biggest one-day fair in Britain so it goes to show how popular it is."
Mrs Mitchell said the unpredictable weather may have kept some revellers in front of the TV instead.
"There were not as many people there as other years," she said, adding: "We really enjoy doing it every year and we are definitely going to do it again next year.
"Sometimes it just depends on how people are feeling on the evening, but those who came had a brilliant time and so did we."
The towering bonfire, lit just after 7pm, was topped by not one but two Guy Fawkeses, courtesy of Jordan Breeze, nine, and Amy Williams, 14, both from Trench, who saw their models ablaze.
The pair both took home £25 for a charity of their choice. Jordan will give his winnings to a charity that works to combat the children's cancer neuroblastoma. Amy is yet to decide where her money will go.
Mrs Mitchell said the bonfire, which is reputedly the country's biggest one-day funfair, will definitely be making a return next year.
