Entries have been flooding in from young women across the county - and hopefuls have just one more chance to put themselves in the running to follow in the footsteps of Midlands catwalk icon Erin O'Connor, by winning a place on the first rung of the ladder to a glittering career.

The Shropshire Star has teamed up with Telford Shopping Centre to offer a host of prizes to the winner.

Not only will she be named as the face of Telford Shopping Centre 2008 but she will also feature in a photoshoot for the Shropshire Star's bridal supplement in January and open the Telford Wedding Exhibition.

She will also win the gown she will model in a special feature of all our finalists donning eveningwear for the party season.

The standard of entries has been high, but there is still time to enter before Thursday's final deadline - with no restrictions on height or size.

The emphasis is on finding a winner with a unique look and bags of character.

Alice Cubin, from Shrewsbury, said she would love to win the competition, adding that she realised it was a great opportunity.

Katie Warrington, from Highley near Bridgnorth, said she was hoping to impress the judges with her determination.

Also determined is Charlotte Cameron from Wellington, who said she believed that she was "proof that you do not have to be a perfect size eight to 10 to be a model".

"I really want to be successful in modelling and this could give me the chance to prove that you do not have to be super thin with a perfect face to model," she added.

Petite Rebecca Willsmer, from Oswestry, said she wanted to prove that good models don't have to be tall.

She added that she felt she had the right qualities to win even though she was only 5ft 2in.
