County hotel was a farm in 60s

Madeley Court is these days a hotel, but our photo gallery shows what things were like within living memory.

They show outbuildings, the main house and a sundial at the historic building, which was apparently a farm at the time.

The photos was e-mailed in by Paul France, of Coalbrookdale, who says: "They were taken in 1964 by Jeff Wheeldon. I think it was still being operated as a farm at that time, either by the Barnett family or the Heighways.

"I think I'm right in saying that the last person to live there was a Nelson Walmsley who worked for Telford Development Corporation at the time, probably around the late 60s or early 70s.

"It would have made an ideal film set for Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings."
