Meole Brace roadworks a shocking waste of money

I am writing to say congratulations to whoever gave the green light for the Meole Brace road so-called improvement – not.

Roadworks which took place at Meole Brace

I travel that road quite often, both weekdays and weekends, and have to say that the queues are bigger than ever they were before works were done.

Then lights change and traffic is stuck, so traffic joining from Roman Road on the new cut-through road is also at a standstill.

Well done for that shocking waste of our money. We were led to believe it was funded from elsewhere, but any public money is ours, it comes from us however they paint it.

Also I was going to ask if I can claim my road tax back? As yet another road has humps on it, Oteley Road, so I can no longer go to Throwers etc, and have to travel through town until of course more humps appear. I thought we all had to reduce pollution, but these stupid unfriendly humps create more and more traffic slowing, stopping etc.

On Saturday, September 23 the traffic was nothing to do with the football match, as most traffic, like myself, were going home from town. Queues from Adam Ridley island past Sainsbury’s, even the park and ride went around Meole Estate, otherwise they would be running late.

I’ve only ever seen this at Christmas time, until now of course, with this wonderful so-called improvement. Only a few football supporters using all those zebra crossings.

What I want to ask, was anyone measuring pollution levels around Meole on September 23? If not why not? You could smell it. Why, oh why, don’t people listen? It was always going to be a disaster.

Let’s see what’s next - the English Bridge?
