You need this new robotic vacuum cleaner if you really want a smart home
Neato Robotics has a new flagship robot vacuum that can be told where it can and can’t go.

A new robot vacuum has launched at IFA that users can interact and plan with on how to clean a home.
Neato Robotics took the cover off their new flagship device, the Botvac D7 Connected, which has a new floor planning skill that enables users to set “No go lines” around areas the robot needs to avoid.
The D7 creates a map of an owner’s home by being placed in what’s known as Discovery mode when it’s first used – this enables it to learn the floor plan for future cleans.

A new cleaning summary map has also been added to the app, visual feedback from the D7 on where it’s cleaned and any obstacles it encountered.
Neato has been pushing connected vacuums for some time – having previously added Apple Watch, Amazon Alexa and Google Home support to their products to help integrate it into a modern smart home.

“The Botvac D7 Connected represents a significant step forward in the future of the smart home,” he said.
“We are thrilled to launch this product, which is a culmination of Neato’s innovation and leadership in the robot vacuum market.
“The Botvac D7 Connected contains all of Neato’s top-of-the-line features and introduces industry-leading technology with the addition of Neato FloorPlanner.
“This follows our industry first announcement of Alexa and Google Home integration for our Botvac connected series.
“The Botvac D7 Connected has been built to connect with a broader suite of connected services, cementing Neato’s place at the forefront of the SmartHome ecosystem.”
