Developers appeal over 50-home Hodnet plan
Developers have lodged an appeal against a decision to throw out plans to build 50 homes in a Shropshire village.
But they say the appeal is only likely to go ahead if their revised, scaled-down development is also rejected.
Plans for 50 homes off Abbots Way in Hodnet, near Market Drayton, were turned down last year by Shropshire Council's north planning committee.
It said the scheme, which prompted a 76-signature petition of objection, was too cramped, while residents also raised fears of its impact on transport and the school.
Bosses at Strutt and Parker, the agent working for the landowner, went back to the drawing board and earlier this month revealed plans to build 44 three, four and five bedroom homes on the site, saying this was more in keeping with the village.
The revised plan will be submitted soon.
