Mercedes-Benz unveils new B-Class
New Sports Tourer is due to go on sale this December

Mercedes-Benz has lifted the lid on its new B-Class at today’s Paris Motor Show.
Referred to by the manufacturer as a ‘Sports Tourer’, the B-Class comes as a rival to BMW’s 2 Series Active Tourer.
Due to go on sale this December, the B-Class will be offered with two petrol and three diesel engines, starting with a 1.3-litre petrol and rising to a new 2.0-litre diesel. A seven-speed gearbox will be utilised on the petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, while the larger 2.0-litre will utilise an eight-speed ‘box.
A 43-litre fuel tank is fitted as standard, though a larger 51-litre tank can be added as an optional extra on larger-engined models.
Despite its short overhangs, the B-Class has been designed to offer a good amount of cabin space – generated as a result of the car being slightly longer, wider and taller than its predecessor.
There’s also a good amount of luggage space, too. With the rear seats in place there’s up to 705 litres of boot space available, rising to 1540 litres with those seats folded flat.

Inside, the B-Class benefits from the same cabin architecture as you’ll find on the current-generation A-Class. This means a widescreen infotainment display is fitted, along with Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX infotainment system. It can also be optioned with Mercedes’ latest augmented satellite navigation technology.
A range of safety assistance systems have been fitted to the B-Class too, including active distance assist and active emergency stop assist – the former of which utilises semi-autonomous technology.
