Dave Wallace of Broseley has bought his caricature art back to his home town along with drawings of local tradesman and famous faces like The Beatles.

The 69-year-old decided to include Broseley tradesmen as he wanted to do something different for the exhibition being held at Victoria Hall.

"I had this exhibition on show in Shrewsbury in the past and I thought why not bring it back to Broseley.

"And I decided to include drawings of local tradesman so people in Broseley can recognise some local faces among the famous ones.

"So far people have really enjoyed the exhibition, and I was surprised to see so many people there on the opening night," he said.

Mr Wallace also hopes that by having the exhibition at Victoria Hall it will raise its profile, as a group of trustees are currently trying to raise fund to refurbish the building.

"I have been drawing caricatures for over 10 years, and before that I was head of art and media at Telford College of Arts and Technology.

"Everyone who is featured in the exhibition I have met personally, like The Beatles who I met in 1963 when they played in Shrewsbury.

"But I have also drawn a picture of former England and Wolves captain Billy Wright as I used to live in his old house.

"I prefer to draw people I have met, and sometimes I am asked to draw a person from a picture but I also end up taking my own.

"You get a real feel for the person when you meet them so it's easier to draw."

Dave and his brother Chris got to see the Beatles backstage when they played at the Music Hall in Shrewsbury in 1963 and Dave got them to sign the back of his students' union card and autograph book.

Local personalities who feature include parliamentary candidates Philip Dunne, and David Wright, as well as Shropshire Council leader Keith Barrow and Nick Downes, from the Downes Family Broseley Traders.

Others on display range from Ricky Furgusson, the Telford soldier who was seriously injured in Afghanistan and was awarded the Military Cross, Craig Phillips of Newport, the winner of the first Big Brother show, and Great British Bake Off presenter Paul Hollywood.

The exhibition started on April 24 and will run until the summer and entry is free.
