The incident occurred last year, when riders from Wheatland Hunt branch based in Shifnal in Shropshire were competing at the highly competitive Horse of the Year Show.

The female instructor is said to have belittled and swore at the teenage girl over a row about her riding equipment.

The instructor also repeated the obscenity in a text message to the girl's parents, who have now criticised the Pony Club and the local authority's safeguarding team after review panel allowed the riding instructor to keep her job.

The parent, who does not want to be identified, said: “For a coach to send a message to a parent referring to their child as a word which is an obscenity is completely unacceptable.
