Joshua Lloyd, aged 12, died after falling ill at Telford Langley School in Dawley, Telford on Friday, June 16, 2023.

An inquest into his death was opened at Shropshire Coroner’s Court, Guildhall, Shrewsbury, and was told that road paramedics and the Midland Air Ambulance were called to the school just after 2.30pm.

Staff were already carrying out CPR on Joshua before medics took over.

He was rushed to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, but sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, Joshua could not be saved and was pronounced dead at 3.51pm.

Heath Westerman, deputy coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said there had been a “significant police investigation” into Joshua’s death, resulting in no prosecution.

“Enquiries have taken a significant amount of time,” Mr Westerman said.
