The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of smoke coming from the first floor window of a house in Hadley, Telford at 7.45am on Sunday.

Fire crews and an operations officer attended the blaze at Parkdale, off Hadley Park Road. The fire had spread to the roof space, fire service control said.

Officers from West Mercia Police were also on the scene.

The fire was extinguished with nobody hurt, but police and fire crews remained on the scene to begin investigating the potential cause.

Fire incident commander Phil Davies told the Shropshire Star: "We were called to this address at 7.45am. Appliances from Wellington, Telford and Shrewsbury... were mobilised.

"The fire is out, no persons hurt and everyone accounted for. As far as the origin or cause is concerned we're now looking at that between police and fire as a mutual investigation."
