It is the 12th Hamfest, which is run by Telford & District Amateur Radio Society and is being held at Enginuity in Coalbrookdale.

There are three guests speakers alongside the major amateur radio suppliers, indoor and outdoor sales tables, and a bring and buy stand. Entry is £4 but free to accompanied children of school age.

David Harris of the society said: "This year’s special feature is three technical lectures including Dave Pick, presenting '21 years of LF: a potted history of UK Low Frequency operation.' Also Dom Baines will speak on the topic 'QRP and making antennas when in DX.' Finally, Paul Darlington has chosen to speak on the slightly cryptic topic 'The Little Rigs That Could.'

"Around 500 visitors come from all over the country for this annual event held at the heart of the industrial revolution’s beginnings. The hobby itself has been the source of many modern day technological discoveries, like digital communications and radio development work. It also comes to the fore in emergencies, like Hurricane Harvey recently and locally the Long Mynd hike in October."

Dave added: "The event is also linked to a national society G-QRP's mini-convention and 'Buildathon' at the Holiday Inn ,Telford, on the previous day."

Hamfest opens at 10.15am.
