And the organisers have invited anybody with photos or memorabilia which shed light on the area's past to bring them along.

The day is at Lawley Community Centre from 11am till 2pm and has been organised by Lawley and Overdale Local History Group.

Darren Blackburn, who chairs the group, said: "We have displays, photos and info on the parish and from our group and members including mining memorabilia shared by Richard Hewer along with Stewart Braddock, the latter from the Granville Boys and Telford Memorial Mining Fund.

"War historians Dave Shaw (Dawley's Lost Generation) and Neil Evans (Shropshire Remembers) will be sharing their interests and research and there is a display from Shirley Bruneau for Old Park. Our neighbours, Ketley History Group, will be also taking part.

"There will also be refreshments and a raffle with first prize donated by the Grazing Cow.

"We'd like to encourage both visitors and parishioners to come along to support it. And we're especially happy to see any photos or documents or memories about any of our communities from our parish's past."
