An air ambulance was sent to the crash

The ambulance service and the air ambulance were both called to the scene of the crash at Rock Road, Ludlow, at around noon today.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service group manager John Temple said the car had gone through a brick garden wall and had come to rest "millimetres" from the wall of a house.

Mr Temple said they were not yet sure what had led to the crash.

The crews that attended the incident used cutting equipment to free the woman, understood to be 69, from her saloon car.

Mr Temple said that the crews cut the door off the car, but did not need to remove its roof to get the woman out.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We attended a road traffic collision involving one saloon vehicle which has driven through a wall and come to rest against a house.

"One 69 year old female casualty was extricated by fire service personnel using cutting equipment."

Fire crews from Craven Arms and Ludlow attended the crash.

There has been no word on the severity of the injuries suffered in the crash.
