Doreen Dunbar died on March 3 but was sent a bill for her care by Shropshire Council

Malcolm Dunbar, 77, from Stiperstones, said his wife of nearly 50 years, Doreen, 82, had been suffering multiple health issues and was in hospital in February this year.

She was later transferred for palliative care at a care home in Minsterley on February 23, but sadly died on March 3.

The grieving Mr Dunbar said he was then shocked to discover a letter from Shropshire Council dated July 20 land on his doormat, addressed to his late wife.

After opening the letter, he was even more taken aback to see that it was a bill for £2,229.99 for his wife's palliative care from March 3 to March 16 - the two weeks that followed Mrs Dunbar's death.
