Firefighters battle lorry blaze at service station as smoke seen from miles away

A lorry caught fire at a busy A5 service station with emergency services rushing to tackle the blaze.

The incident was at the Nesscliffe Service Station where plumes of smoke could be seen by passing motorists for some distance on Tuesday evening.

Fire crews responded quickly and efficiently to this incident, fire bosses said. Attendance included fire appliances from Oswestry, Baschurch, and Shrewsbury, along with a level two officer,

Crews used hose reel jets, breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras and a foam inductor. No one was injured in the blaze.
