Search for BMW after Audi torched near Attingham Park

An investigation has been launched after an Audi car was torched near Shrewsbury.

Police are searching for the occupants of a white BMW after the car was set on fire near Attingham Park at around 10.45pm on Monday.

The Audi is believed to have been around two miles away, on the other side of the A5, earlier in the evening.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "We received a call from the fire service reporting that a vehicle, a silver Audi had been deliberately set on fire.

"The location given was between Attingham Park and the M54 overbridge. The occupants of a white BMW, no further details at this stage, are believed to be involved in this incident.

"It is believed that the Audi had been seen earlier in the evening in the Withington area

"Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, particular if you live in the area and may have CCTV or dashcam footage.

One fire engine was sent to put out the blaze.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "One fire appliance was mobilised from Shrewsbury. A fire investigation officer was in attendance.

"Also at the scene of the incident were the police.

"One saloon car fully involved in fire. Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish."

The police spokesman continued: "If you have any information regarding these incidents then please contact police quoting reference number 00734 I 16082021."
