Daisy, daisy, special Valentines gift for NHS staff
A bouquet made up of 100 hand-painted metal rainbow daisies has been delivered to staff at Shropshire’s two acute hospitals as a thank you for all their hard work during the pandemic.
The floral gift was created by the team at the British Ironwork Centre in Oswestry and was presented to staff at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford yesterday .
Clive Knowles, Chairman and Founder of the British Ironwork Centre, delivered the bouquet to Clare Walsgrove, Quality Matron at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust which runs both hospitals.
Clare had got in touch with Clive when she heard about the hand-painted flowers they were creating to give to those affected by Covid-19.
Clare was looking for something extra special to gift to colleagues who have worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months, and to mark Valentine’s Day – and Clive was only too happy to help.
He said: “When Clare got in touch with us, we were delighted to help. Our NHS has been at the very forefront of this pandemic, and this is our way of saying a very big thank you to all those on the frontline who have been working so hard to look after us all.”
Clare said: “We wanted to do something nice for our colleagues who have been working so hard throughout this pandemic. We will be delivering the individual flowers to colleagues at both hospitals to recognise their contribution over the next few days. The flowers will be delivered along with a card and a message of thanks.
“Clive has also gifted us golden envelopes to distribute so that other staff can also receive a daisy when the Ironwork Centre opens up again. We are so grateful to Clive and the team at the Ironwork Centre for their kindness and generosity to our staff. So much time and effort has gone into making these daisies – and we are absolutely certain that the recipients will be very touched.”
