A5 crash causes rush-hour delays in Shrewsbury

Commuters faced rush-hour delays after a two-car crash in Shrewsbury this morning.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A5, near the Emstrey Island, at about 7.55am.

The road was blocked in both directions.

West Mercia Police said there were no reports of injuries.

Meanwhile traffic ground to a halt after a two-vehicle smash on the edge of Newtown.

The accident happened at 7.40am on the A483 towards Welshpool, close to the temporary traffic lights for the bypass roadworks.

Dyfed Powys Police said no-one was injured in the crash but there were long delays for motorists.
