Dog which was abandoned needs a new home

Hollie, a ten-year-old mastiff-cross, went into the RSPCA’s Gonsal Farm animal centre, in Dorrington, outside of Shrewsbury, in April after being abandoned by her previous owner at a house in the West Midlands.

When Hollie was rescued, all of her ribs were showing and she had an eye infection. She was being kept outside with no bedding, food, water or shelter.

After a two-month recovery period, she became available for rehoming in June – but sadly no potential adopters have shown any interest since then.

If she is not rehomed soon, she will be transferred to another RSPCA centre to see if she has any luck there – but Gonsal Farm staff would like to avoid doing that as they are keen to see her into her new home.

Neil Richardson, kennel supervisor at Gonsal Farm, said: “We have had Hollie here with us since the beginning of her journey and we would love to see her into her new home too.

“We just don’t understand why she has not had any interest yet. Since she’s been with us she has seen 54 dogs be adopted into their new homes, and she is still just patiently waiting for her turn. She is our longest-stay dog now.

“Hollie is a big loveable dog who will make a wonderful pet. She has made an amazing recovery – you only have to look at her photos from when she was rescued to see how far she has come. She was so sad-looking when she arrived into our care but she is a different dog today.

“She’s a lovely, friendly girl who loves fuss and would like a new home where she will be the centre of attention. We would love her to end this year in a loving new home.”
