Eleanor Webb-Thomas, 16, won the top prize for her short film entitled Space Coffee.

The awards, which pay tribute to outstanding five to 19 year olds from across the UK who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in filmmaking and film reviewing are hosted by Into Film, the education organisation supported by the BFI through National Lottery funding.

Eleanor was honoured during a star-studded red carpet ceremony earlier this month (MARCH) at London’s ODEON Leicester Square, which was attended by big names including Daniel Craig, Eddie Redmayne, Ruth Wilson, Charles Dance and Amma Asante, and hosted by radio and TV presenter, Edith Bowman.

Presented to her by Sophie Cookson, who appeared in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Versailles actor George Blagden, Eleanor was invited on stage to pick up her award for her short film in the ‘Into Film: Into Space & Home:13 and over’ category, supported by UK Space Agency.

It is a new guest category for this year’s Into Film Awards, and is the culmination of a new competition which was set to inspire young people about British ESA astronaut Tim Peake’s adventures in space and return to Earth through a short live action or animation film.

Eleanor said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award and I really hope it will help me to move forward in the industry and gain recognition."

Schools, youth organisations and students from all over the UK entered the awards, with short film nominations exploring a wide range of issues including the environment, refugees, bullying, disability, gender, space exploration and growing up.
