The Bridge Inn in Chirk Bank reopened on Saturday following the drama.

Two crews from Oswestry were called to the pub at 10.55am on Thursday.

Chimney rods and a thermal imaging camera were used and it was put out within an hour.

A statement on Thursday on the pub's Facebook page said: "Due to huge chimney fire the trap will be closed until Saturday it has caused minor smoke damage downstairs and the whole place will have to be cleaned, will do my very best to get it sorted as soon as possible."

On Friday a further statement confirmed industrial cleaners were helping, and the pub would open at 5pm on Saturday.

The statement said: "Fire service have given the all clear this morning, the smell of smoke is still bad after hours of cleaning yesterday.

"I now have industrial cleaners in for the day to get it sorted, there is so much to do. Please bear with me."
